First lady Jill Biden welcomed the official 2023 White House Christmas tree this week in a ceremony that included invited military-connected families and their children, which is a long-standing holiday tradition. She welcomed the 18 1/2-foot Fraser fir along with siblings Amber Scott and Alex Church, who won this year’s annual National Christmas Tree Association contest. Each year, the association hosts a national tree contest. Growers, industry experts, and consumers vote to select the “Real Christmas Tree” grower who will provide the official White House Christmas tree. To qualify for the national contest, growers must first win their state or regional competitions. This year’s tree was grown in Fleetwood, North Carlina and will sit floor to ceiling in the White House Blue Room.
